You can choose from Blue Oyster, Pink Oyster and Yellow Oyster grow kits. Each variety produces its own distinctive mushrooms, making them particularly fun to grow and watch develop.

Your kit contains the growing substrate, grow bag, instructions and everything needed to get the growing process underway, together with your chosen mushroom spawn or a voucher to have the spawn delivered later.

Absolutely. Our kits are designed for people who've never grown mushrooms before. Everything is explained step by step, so you don't need any specialist equipment or previous mushroom-growing experience.

Once you've prepared your kit and added the spawn, you'll usually start seeing the exciting signs of growth within the following weeks. Most kits are designed to produce their first harvest in around 30 days, although mushrooms are living organisms, so growing times can vary.

If you choose to have your spawn posted later, there’s no need to worry about buying your gift too early. The grow kit itself can be stored until you’re ready to use it, because the fresh mushroom spawn is sent separately when you redeem your spawn voucher. This makes it ideal for buying ahead for Christmas or another special occasion.

Mushroom spawn is the living mushroom culture that starts the growing process. Think of it a little like the “seed” for your mushrooms. You mix the spawn with the prepared growing substrate in your kit to begin growing your mushrooms.

Fresh mushroom spawn has a limited storage life, whereas the rest of your kit can be stored for much longer. If you're buying the kit as a gift, choose “Send Spawn Later” and we'll include a spawn voucher instead. The recipient can then request their fresh spawn when they're ready to start growing.

Your gift includes a voucher for the correct mushroom spawn. When the recipient is ready to grow, they simply visit our website, enter their voucher code and we post their fresh spawn to them. There’s no additional charge for the spawn or its delivery.
